Welcome!

For those of you that don’t know me, I’m Paige. I’m a twenty-one-year-old writer in Milledgeville, Georgia who has a healthy obsession with food and farming. I grew up in a small agricultural community in South East Georgia where industrial farming practices were the norm. I took an interest in all of the ins and outs of our modern food system when my mother was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease in 2010.

It was then that I learned what a massive impact food production practices have on our health.

In the years since then, I’ve developed my own opinions about how food should be produced, sold, and prepared. I’ve come to spend most of my time in the kitchen. I’ve visited small farms all over the state and beyond. And perhaps most importantly—I’ve decided to become a farmer.

I’ve created this blog to document my discoveries and my progress, but most importantly, I’ve created it to share with others what I’ve learned. When you start talking about “sustainable agriculture” you can get drowned in murky waters pretty quickly.

I want to educate people about some of the most common misconceptions I see when it comes to the food movement and clean agricultural practice.

I won’t pretend to know it all, but I invite you to join me in my journey of understanding and discovery.

I hope to provide information on how to produce food for yourself, how to find farmers in your area, how to decipher the convoluted list of food labels, and more. I also plan to post stories, recipes, pictures, reviews and farm profiles.

For those of you in Middle Georgia—keep an eye on this! One of my main goals here is to create a comprehensive directory of local food in the Middle Georgia area and introduce you to your local farmers.
